It screams everything you fear
Whispers comfort in your ear
Makes you a stranger in your own skin
And yet is sought when patience wears thin
It descends among people when nothing else will
Evaporating reality; its sound is shrill
Envelopes a person briefly, heavy like lead
Just for the few seconds before a tear is shed
It's a blank abyss, both refuge and hell
What time it comes or goes, no one can tell
It is defined as nothing, empty, clear
So why does it scream so loud in our ear?

I wanted to write something about silence, considering it is such a multi-faced character. It can be awkward, feared, tiring, troubling, sickening, enraging, or craved, among so many other things. This is sort of a work in progress...so there will probably be a second 'screaming silence'.

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
